Minimum Qualifications for Job Class Specifications

Minimum qualifications are those qualifications necessary to successfully perform the essential duties of the job from the very first day of employment. All applicants must possess the minimum qualification to be considered for open positions.

The job descriptions include education, experience, required licenses and certifications as part of the minimum qualifications. Some descriptions list “acceptable substitutions” for these minimum qualifications.

The minimum qualifications and acceptable substitutions described on the job description are representative of the typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the job. Any combination of education, licensing, and/or experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job satisfactorily may qualify applicants to be considered for open positions in the job classification.
