The Live Oak Riverfront Park Boat Launching Facility is located at 1100 Pennington Road.
The facility was originally constructed in 1965 by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The launch ramp was 25 feet wide and 160 feet long and occasionally became unusable at lower river levels. The launch ramp provided river access to sport fisherman and recreational river users in the vicinity of the city of Live Oak.
To increase accessibility to the Feather River and complete the Riverfront Park improvements the County of Sutter applied for and received two grants totaling $1,118,000 from the State Department of Boating and Waterways to reconstruct the launching ramp. The new ramp would be two lanes, 39 feet wide, 240 feet long and include boarding floats. The two-lane ramp and the associated boarding floats would allow vessels to be launched and recovered at the same time. The much longer ramp was designed to exceed current state Department of Boating and Waterways requirements for depth at the low water level so that the river could be accessible year round.
This park is managed and maintained by the County of Sutter General Services Department.
