- Rehabilitated State Route 99 to a 40-year pavement life
- Upgraded the drainage systems
- Flattened the roadway cross slopes
- Constructed new continuous sidewalks
- Improved traffic signals at three intersections of State Route 99 at Pennington Road, Elm Street and Kola Street
- Created a pedestrian-focused downtown environment by enhancing parking and building access, way-finding and signage, landscaping and facilities for bicyclists and pedestrians
- Improved crosswalks, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways
- Upgraded curb ramps to current American with Disabilities act (ADA) standards
PROJECT BENEFITS:
The project made substantial improvements to the roadway, drainage systems and streetscape. The pavement cross slopes, sidewalks and curb ramps now meet current standards. The new and upgraded traffic signals at the Elm, Pennington and Kola intersections enhance safety and improve traffic flow through town. The new streetscape features such as sunbaked clay-colored stamped concrete crosswalks and parking bays, continuous sidewalks, underground utilities and black streetlights poles significantly enhance the city’s “Main Street” environment. Pedestrians and students enjoy safer routes to their destinations.
