The Community Services Department of Sutter County manages the existing animal shelter and provides animal control services for the unincorporated area of Sutter County, the City of Live Oak and the City of Yuba City. Services include animal licenses, investigation of animal bites, and the quarantine of animals.

The Sutter Animal Services Authority Board (SASA)

The Sutter Animal Services Authority (SASA), a Joint Powers Authority comprised of the County of Sutter, the City of Yuba City and the City of Live Oak, is responsible for animal services throughout Sutter County.

As of July 1, 2013, the City of Yuba City has taken over operations of Sutter Animal Services.
