| City Council meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 9955 Live Oak Blvd. Other special study sessions are scheduled as needed. Steve Alvarado was elected to the Live Oak Council in November 2010.
Steve Alvarado and his wife Joanna, both lifelong residents of Live Oak are proud and honored to be raising their two kids, Baylee and Esteban III in their native hometown.
Alvarado graduated from Live Oak High School in 1998. He then pursued an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Heald College in Roseville, California. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2008. Alvarado has been working alongside with his parents and siblings in their family business, El Ranchito Market for the past 15 years. He recently started his own catering business and is thrilled with the overwhelming support he continues to receive from the citizens of Live Oak.
Being elected Mayor of Live Oak is Steve’s most recent accomplishment. Alvarado has been a coach for the Live Oak Little League for the past 3 consecutive years. He has also coached recreational basketball and assisted in soccer. Alvarado and his family are members of The Live Oak Chamber of Commerce. Alvarado currently sits on the Bi-County Transportation Agency, Feather River Air Quality Management District, Regional Waste Management Authority and City Loan Committee.
Alvarado is embedded in the City of Live Oak. He is extremely honored and grateful for the trust and anticipation the community has placed on him and the council. He looks forward to working with all the members of the council and most importantly with the members of the community.

Vice-Mayor Ray Rogers (Current Term 2011-2014)

Ray Rogers was appointed to the City Council on October 5, 2011.
Ray and his wife Debbie moved to Live Oak in January, 2006 from Fremont, CA. where they had lived for 25 years. Ray had worked as a Field Service Engineer and Technical Support Manager for Hi-Tech companies in the Bay area. Upon retiring, they chose to move to Live Oak because it reminded him of the small town he grew up in. Ray and Debbie are members of First United Methodist Church in Yuba City.
Since moving to Live Oak, Ray has become involved in community affairs by attending City Council meetings and volunteering to be on the committee that was tasked with determining how local levee repairs would be paid for. He has been active in working to get our levees repaired as a member of the Citizens Assessment District Advisory Committee.
Ray is honored to have the opportunity to continue to support the community as a member of the City Council and will strive to encourage economic growth and the continued protection of our city.

Gary Baland was elected to the City Council in November 2008.
Gary and his wife Kathy have been married 35 years. They moved to Live Oak a few years ago from the small mountain community of Quincy where it was home for 27 years. The Balands have three grown children and four wonderful grandchildren. Gary recently retired as a Bridge Foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad at the end of 2009. Both Gary and Kathy are very active in the community through their involvement in the schools, planned civic events, and the Father's House Church.
Gary is thankful for the opportunity to serve on the City Council and will continue the very high standard that has been set to keep Live Oak a great and safe place for our children to grow up.

Council Member Diane Hodges (Current Term 2010-2014)

Diane Hodges was elected to the City Council in November 2006 and then voted as Mayor four consecutive years in a row during her first term in office.
Diane and her husband have had the privilege of calling Live Oak their home for over 45 years. She worked for the Live Oak Unified School District for 16 years and before being elected as a Council Member she was a homemaker.
Diane is married to Ken and they have two children and two granddaughters.
Diane knows there are many important issues in the City of Live Oak, but the focus of her energy are traffic issues, economic development infrastructure, the Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrade and the General Plan Update.

Lakhvir Ghag was elected to the City Council in November 2012.
Born in Punjabi, India, Lakhvir moved to Live Oak with his family at the age of 13. His family moved to Live Oak for its precious open space, smalltown feel for raising children and developing lifelong friendships and ties. He graduated from Live Oak High School, attended Community College in Portland Oregon, and graduated from United Electronics Institute with BSC in Electronic Technology. He has been successfully self employed for over 33 years, is a pioneer of Satellite technology for commercial and home use and Mocrosoft Certified in A+, N+ and MCP.
As a life long resident of Live Oak, Lakhvir's desire is to make government accountable to our citizens, to serve citizens affordably and quickly, enhance City disaster preparedness plan, see more affordable housing, clam traffic and expand transportation alternatives, increase City revenues by attracting new retail businesses, City services at sensible prices - water/sewer, garbage, recreational activities and library.
